Founded in 1919, the Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group is Namibia's largest privately held business enterprise, having been an integral part of the fabric of Namibian life for over a century. Our retail journey began in 1965 when visionary farmer Werner List purchased a stake in Model Super Market to create outlets for his produce. This single store marked the beginning of a retail legacy that would span generations and transform Namibian shopping.

In 1997 we entered a new chapter as Model Pick n Pay, bringing international standards with local ownership under the O&L Experience. For 27 years, we expanded to 19 stores nationwide and pioneered retail innovations and remaining true to our Namibian roots while bringing world-class retail experiences to communities across the country.

Now, as we come full circle in 2025, we're returning to our original name with renewed purpose, vision and a commitment to inspiration, innovation, high quality and exceptional customer-centricity. Model is a brand revival, a movement and a homecoming that honours our heritage while boldly stepping into Namibia's retail future.

As pioneers in environmental responsibility, we took early action by being the first Namibian retailer to charge for plastic bags in 2019. We also support the Recycle Namibia Forum, and sustainability remains at our core.
